Returning to my island, I saw it with new eyes, the colours and influences that shaped my childhood.
After travelling, I came back with a deeper understanding of how cultures evolve in the aftermath of colonisation. Guadeloupe reflects layered Indigenous and African influences, where flavours, rhythms, and beliefs persist across time, often renamed, yet deeply connected.
This work explores the essence of Guadeloupe, between difference and shared histories.
