STIGMÂTES
FRANCE / 2024

This exploration of queerness, captures the complex interplay between self-perception and societal judgment. In this series, shadows cast on the skin represent the labels and stigmas imposed by society. These shadows, often dark and obscuring, symbolize the weight of external judgment and the struggle for authentic self-expression within the queer community.

Through intimate portraits, each image reveals the tension between the individual’s true identity and the societal labels that seek to define and confine them. The shadows serve as a visual metaphor for the often invisible yet profoundly felt pressures of conformity and prejudice.

By bringing these shadows to light, the series challenges viewers to confront their own perceptions and biases, fostering a deeper understanding and empathy for the multifaceted experiences of queer individuals. This project aims to illuminate the resilience and beauty of those who navigate and resist these societal impositions, celebrating the courage it takes to live one’s truth in the face of adversity : casted wounds.
